So I'm a little late. Better late then never eh? I have long been lamenting that to get yogurt without added refined sugar, you just have to buy the completely plain stuff and add your own fruit and flavors. However, I have decided that if Whole Foods Market were a man, I may just run off with it into the sunset. I found a product there called Liberte Yogurt. They are out of Quebec, but also have U.S. distribution. My exciting find was their 6 whole grain yogurt with no refined sugars! They include fruit and fruit juices, but that's all. They also include tasty little nuggets of grain.
I chose berry flavors since berries tend to be lower on the glycemic index, and I like them best in yogurt anyway. The beauty of it is that the yogurt is mild and delicious. It's not too sweet like some and not too tart and "yogurt-tasting" like others. I loved biting into the little chunks of somewhat soft grains. If you're the type who doesn't like anything soggy that is usually a bit crunchy, I wouldn't go with this product. I, however, like to soak things in milk, so it didn't bother me a bit.
It is a little pricey at about $1.09 a cup, but since I haven't had flavored yogurt in ages, it was worth it to buy a few. I also can't eat much yogurt due to the unfortunate lactose intolerance, so I can't buy too many anyway.
Coming next - a recipe I actually made up myself!
