Recap of the Awesomeness

Oh my goodness the joy in this house. One of E's grandfathers visited for the first time just before Christmas, and it was lovely. Even lovelier was the fact that I got to be off work on Christmas Eve. I didn't manage to eke out Christmas day (11 hrs at work), but at least I had part of the festivities for my baby's first!

We had lunch at Chili's, which may seem a little lame, but for the first time this year, we have no relatives to visit. I was bummed about that. (Although I have to say there are certain blessings in having our own Christmas.) I do have an Aunt on the west coast, but she's quite a ways away with her own major obligations. Maybe next year. After we came home I started dinner. We feasted on a very non-traditional but delicious meal of garnet yams (MUCH better than plain ole sweet potatoes), savory green beans and chicken for me and E and roast for Hub (pre-cooked by the grocery store.) Then came the presents.

E had the time of his life. He didn't really care about the paper or opening the presents, but he sure liked them once they were available. He got just the right amount too. It wasn't so much that it overwhelmed him. It was so wonderful to see him push around his trucks, adore his books, love on his stuffed animals and lovingly stroke the satin ribbons.

Cute side story: Since we put the tree up, there has been one ornament I would hang low and take off to show E. It has been the ONLY ornament he pulls off. It's one that is not dangerous in any way for him to have, so we don't care if he does. The adorable thing is, he crawls around with it and loves on it for a while. Then he crawls back to the spot on the tree where he got it and tries to hang it back up: every.single.time. Does everyone think their baby is a genius angel? Probably.

OK, back to business. E got Daddy a photo book of the two of them, and Daddy liked it so much. I got an iPod touch, and I adore it. I use it a lot for quick photos and video of the baby and to organize things via email/FB on the fly. It's perfect for a busy Mom. I just don't like my phone and media systems to mix, so a touch it was. I want my phone to call people and maybe have a calendar and alarm. That's all. Call me traditional. I don't even text. Yes - I am hopeless and tight fisted. The lovely thing about this present from Hub was that he set up my account for me, charged the iPod and downloaded a Christmas album I wanted very badly that only came in mp3 format. It's called This Good Night is Still Everywhere by Dustin Kensrue. Check it out. It's lovely. I'm particularly partial to his O Come O Come Emmanuel.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I'm enjoying being filled up with all this love.
