Happy One Year my sweet little man!
At 9:26pm exactly one year ago, you came into this world whimpering. I'd like to say screaming, but you weren't feeling so well, so the doctors had to help you a little bit. Mommy and Daddy worried about you and loved you so much, and everything turned out ok. Back then you were helpless, sweet, cuddly, teeny and insecure. Now you are independent, often giving me looks that say, "I do it myself Mommy!" You're also no longer teeny. You're still taller than average, and though you are a skinny little thing, the chunk thighs remain. The skinny I blame on Daddy. The tall I blame on Granddad.
You remain sweet and loving though a bit of the spirited toddler you will become shows at times. Play has become your life and animals, books and trucks are your main interests. You're also going through some attachment with us again and cry when we're parted. Daddy is even included now. Speaking of Daddy, that has become your new favorite word. You copy almost all sounds you hear and have been trying different words. No, Daddy, Mum, Ba (Bottle) and Boo (Book) have become fairly consistent.
On the physical side of things, you've been pulling up on everything and starting to cruise a little. The cutest thing ever is that when you're legs are getting tired, you slowly lower yourself to the ground to avoid falling. Figuring out how things work is another big new physical skill. It's pretty amazing to watch you discover how a knob turns or how something opens.
Speaking of cute things, some other fun new developments are that when you try to put something in your mouth, and I say no, you immediately try to hand it to Mommy with a sad face. Even when I explain to you that you can hold it, just not eat it, you still try to give it to me. It's adorable, but Mommy feels badly for you at the same time! You've also started smiling when you realize your picture is being taken. All I can figure is that you've seen us do it because we certainly have not taught you that.
Some of the traits that have been emerging: stubborn, determined, loving (as always), eager to please, conscientious, playful, serious and careful.
Watching who you are becoming is a privilege and a joy. Thank you for coming into our lives. Being your parents is the most fulfillment we could have ever asked for.
